Last-Minute Weekend Getaway

Two friends and I decided to board a bus headed for Chisinau, Moldova (the capital). We stayed two nights in a great little hostel and made our way around the city. Here are some pictures from our trip:

When we first arrived, we checked in to our hostel, familiarized ourselves with the city map, then headed to "Bier Platz" - a German restaurant. Yep, we ate seafood at a German restaurant in Moldova - makes sense, right?

The second day, we found a restaurant with license plates from the U.S. all over the restaurant - we had to give some love to our states!

Sarah: originally from California, but wants to attend grad school in NY

David: giving some love to Virginia

And, of course, some Washington pride!

We enjoyed checking out the graffiti throughout the city...

We made our way to club Deja Vu on our first night... we had a fun time dancing together!

Making snow angels...

We went to a delicious restaurant and shared our plates family style! Chicken curry, teriyaki chicken, and almond chicken with raspberry sauce were the main dishes, but we also shared a greek salad and grilled avocados as appetizers. This was the best meal I've had since visiting the states - it was absolutely DELICIOUS!

Most of my friends in Peace Corps have adopted "Natty" as my nickname - so we had to stop and try the cookie named after me!

It was a great group of people to travel with - and that's difficult to find! We were able to explore the city, walk through the city market, check out an art bazaar, and have some ice cream from McDonalds (even though it was FREEZING!). A much needed weekend getaway was just what we needed!
Hope you're able to squeeze in some traveling adventures on the weekends!
Peace,
Nat
